Icelandic Silicon Corporation

 

Icelandic Silicon Corporation is an Icelandic / Danish initiative being developed by Tomahawk Development, in cooperation and joint ownership with a group of engineers from Iceland.

The idea is to use the clean Icelandic geothermal energy to produce silicon, a widely used energy heavy semiconductor, in an environmental friendly way. The vision is to create the worlds new silicon valley in Iceland, and provide silicon to a number of silicon consuming companies which are underway to Iceland.

Icelandic Environmental authorities have in October 2008 issued the Environmental Permit and the draft Operating Permit for the silicon production in Helguvík. Tomahawk Development has carried out an extensive Environmental Impact Assessment which can be read (in Icelandic) by downloading the reports below:
